Under-cabinet LED lighting

Under-cabinet lighting should put light on the worktop without leaving the source exposed. Begin with the cabinet section and the surfaces below it, then compare models in the intended profile.

INSTALLATION

Strip position beneath the cabinet

Plan the source in relation to the cabinet edge and the normal standing position. A small mock-up can reveal shadows on the worktop, visible LEDs or distracting reflections before a recess is machined.

Front-edge mounting

Assess whether the source is visible and whether the profile shields it from a normal standing position.

Set-back mounting

Check coverage across the worktop and possible reflections in a glossy backsplash.

Recessed assembly

Coordinate the profile depth, connectors and cable exit with the cabinet drawing.

Questions for this installation

Should the strip sit near the front of the cabinet?

The best position depends on cabinet depth, profile shielding and the surface below. Test the proposed location from the normal working position.

Does the backsplash affect selection?

Yes. Reflections can change how the light appears. Compare the intended strip and diffuser beside the actual finish.
